City of Eugene

~I rce and Risk Services Policies
Human Resou
for undergraduate work or one class of graduate level work per term quarter.
Reimbursement Guidelines:
i
j The amount of assistance received is determined by availability of budgeted
j funds. The City may reimburse the cost of tuition relative to the following
' guidelines:
- A course directly related to the current job function of the employee maybe
reimbursed up to 100% of the tuition costs,
- A course tied to a formal City career development plan that is on file in HRRS
j may be reimbursed up to 50% of the tuition costs,
-Courses of interest which do not directly affect necessary job skills, but which
may improve the overall contribution of an employee to the City maybe
reimbursed up to 50% of the tuition costs.
No duplication of reimbursement will be made, if the employee is receiving
assistance through other means, scholarship, grant, fellowship, GI Bill or other
government .assistance.
Costs Covered:
The City will only reimburse the employee for charges per credit hour of the
class. If an employee plans to enroll in a degree program and the cost of the
program is expressed as a lump sum, the supervisor/manager should determine the
number of credit hours that meet the reimbursement guidelines. Use. this
percentage to prorate the reimbursement of the total program cost. Additional
charges for incidental fees, books, or supplies are the responsibility of the
employee.
When Does. the Organization Pay:
Reimbursement will be made to the employee once the educational
reimbursement form, copies of the receipt for course credit costs and grade card
establishing successful completion of the course have been submitted. Successful
completion means:. for graded classes the employee must pass the course with a "C" or
better for undergraduate courses and a "B" or better for graduate level courses;
for a pass, no pass classes, the employee must pass the class.
Human Resource and Risk Services Revised: 09/16/02
