fourteen (14) days m advance and provided a copy of the proposed ~ ob <br /> description, salary range, and the proposed implementation date. The City <br /> shall meet with the Union, upon request, to discuss the proposed change. <br /> The discussions shall not abrogate the rights or procedures of the parties to <br /> ~ this Agreement.. <br /> b. Reclassification Upward: When an employee is reclassified to a <br /> classification with a higher salary range, the incumbent shall receive the <br /> first step of the higher classification salary range or be placed on the step <br /> that provides at least a three and seventy-five hundredths percent (3.75%) <br /> increase over the employee's current salary. <br /> c. Reclassification Downward: When an employee is reclassified to a <br /> classification with a lower salary range, the following shall occur: <br /> 1) The incumbent employee may choose to exercise her/his <br /> displacement, bumping, and any associated rights, in accordance with <br /> Article 1 l; s/he shall be placed in the new classification at the step <br /> closest to the em to ee s current Sala <br /> <br /> III <br /> P Y rY <br /> 2) If the employee chooses to stay in the position or is unable to <br /> move based on her/his seniority, and the employee's current salary is <br /> within the salary range of the new classification, the employee's <br /> salary shall remain the same. If the employee's current salary is <br /> greater than the salary range of the new classification, the employee's <br /> salary shall be red-circled or frozen at its current level for one (1) <br /> year. After one (1) year, the employee's salary shall be moved to Step <br /> 6 of the range of the new classification. <br /> 3) Any employee who is demoted as a result of a reclassification <br /> will be granted recall rights, in accordance with Article 11. <br /> 4) Reclassification which results in a demotion will not affect the <br /> employee's merit date. <br /> 16.7 RECLASSIFICATION REQUESTS <br /> If an employee feels s/he has had a substantial change in duties since her/his <br /> last class review, s/he may request to her/his supervisor that her/his <br /> classification be reviewed. The request must be in writing and outline the <br /> changes that have occurred. The supervisor will route the request to Human <br /> Resources for evaluation. <br /> 16.8 BILINGUAL PAY <br /> a.
