24) Do you operate specific equipment? Please give brief examples.
During the time spent performing survey duties the following equipment is
operated:
• Total Station Theodolites
• Data collectors
i Automatic differential levels
• Laser levels
• Global Positioning System survey equipment
Drafting and design requires the use of the following equipment:
• Hewlett Packard 1055 and 750 plotters
• Desktop PCs
• Copiers, printers and scanners
Inspection duties require the use of the following:
• La to Com uters or Pocket PCs
P P P
Estimated time spent: Often throughout the year
25) Do you usually work individually or in a team situation?
Although a vast majority of the work performed during design of a project is done
alone (approx. 95%), a team approach is the concept. Each person's work.
serving as a plateau for other's to work from.
Work on a survey crew in the field is 100% team work. No-one can do the work
alone with the equipment and technology presently in use.

- Project inspection is generally an individual task but often an inspection team is
created. Many times a contractor is performing multiple tasks simultaneously and
an Engineering Technician performing inspection duties can only cover one task
at a time so another Engineering Technician will work on the project too. One will
be performing air testing of a wastewater main line and the other will be
inspecting a paving operation.
.Estimated time spent: Working alone, 90% of each day.
26) Please give examples of special projects.
I do not understand what is meant by this.
Estimated time spent:
27) What activities do you perform independently?
Engineering Technician Position Review 15 January 2004
