There is interest expressed and
arrangements are being made with the coordinator to allow the PWDC a space at the

~ event.
• Josh Colley introduced the idea of setting up booths at large events that draw diverse

~ crowds. He also passed around brochures from Lane County's diversity program that
was translated into Spanish. It's the outreach committee's goal to translate diversity
brochures in Spanish and Asian languages.
• Coloring books and tattoos are going to be distributed at the Public Works Day
event. Those present voted for a tattoo design. The subcommittee will meet to
discuss how to distribute these items and whether or not there will be a diversity
booth. A report will be given at the next PWDC meeting.
• Our budget for freebees was increased to $1,500 from $1,000. The coloring books
and tattoos will cost around $1,300. There will be freebees left over for stock.
Trainin Committee
g
The training committee met and focused their discussion on a toolbox (training ideas) to
improve communication. Sally Markos, Roland Hoskins, and Lori Davis are developing
training solutions that they will present during crew meetings. Each session will be about
20 minutes.
• Roland is focusing on "Diversity without guilt, shame, and blame". The intent is to
teach diversity without making anyone feel like they are doing something wrong.
