Motion passed unanimously. <br /> i <br /> Subcommittee Reports <br /> Outreach Committee <br /> • Tom Mendes contacted Rita Wallace-Ostrofsky of the City of Springfield inquiring <br /> about a diversity booth at Festiva Latina. There is interest expressed and <br /> arrangements are being made with the coordinator to allow the PWDC a space at the <br /> <br /> ~ event. <br /> • Josh Colley introduced the idea of setting up booths at large events that draw diverse <br /> <br /> ~ crowds. He also passed around brochures from Lane County's diversity program that <br /> was translated into Spanish. It's the outreach committee's goal to translate diversity <br /> brochures in Spanish and Asian languages. <br /> • Coloring books and tattoos are going to be distributed at the Public Works Day <br /> event. Those present voted for a tattoo design. The subcommittee will meet to <br /> discuss how to distribute these items and whether or not there will be a diversity <br /> booth. A report will be given at the next PWDC meeting. <br /> • Our budget for freebees was increased to $1,500 from $1,000. The coloring books <br /> and tattoos will cost around $1,300. There will be freebees left over for stock. <br /> Trainin Committee <br /> g <br /> The training committee met and focused their discussion on a toolbox (training ideas) to <br /> improve communication. Sally Markos, Roland Hoskins, and Lori Davis are developing <br /> training solutions that they will present during crew meetings. Each session will be about <br /> 20 minutes. <br /> • Roland is focusing on "Diversity without guilt, shame, and blame". The intent is to <br /> teach diversity without making anyone feel like they are doing something wrong. <br /> <br />
