i

j
October 7, 2008
CONTACT: Joe Ramirez, Project Manager, 541-682-5228
I
From Public Information Section, 682-5523 or 954-2938
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
i
Bike Path Connector on Hilyard Extension to Be Closed For Construction

I
The bicycle-pedestrian connector route between the South Bank Path and the new Hilyard
Street extension north of Franklin Boulevard will be closed for approximately two weeks beginning
Wednesday, Oct. 8, to allow street construction in that area.
The Hilyard Street extension includes a cul de sac on the north side of the railroad tracks
near the east end of Eighth Avenue. Crews from Wildish Construction, working under contract to
the Eugene Public Works Department, will construct and pave the cul de sac as one of the final
elements of the new courthouse district transportation project that has been under way for several
years.
Signs have been posted advising cyclists and pedestrians to access the South Bank Path
through the EWEB Plaza at Fourth Avenue or via North Onyx Street near the UO campus. The
work in the area of the connector path off Hilyard Street is expected to be completed in about two
weeks, weather permitting.
Eugene Public Works • www.eugene-or.gov/pw
858 Pearl Street, Eugene, Oregon 97501 • 541-682-5523 • fax 541-682-6826 • e-mail pwadmin@ci.eugene.or.us
