OBJECTIVES: <br /> To assist States, tribes, local governments and the public in developing capacity to protect, <br /> manage and restore wetlands. <br /> TYPES OF ASSISTANCE: <br /> Project Grants. <br /> USES AND USE RESTRICTIONS: <br /> These grants are intended to encourage wetlands program development; and build the <br /> capacity of States, tribes, local governments or associations to effectively protect wetland <br /> and riparian resources. The projects that will be funded. under this program should support <br /> the initial development of a wetlands protection, restoration or management program or <br /> support enhancement/refinement of an existing program. <br /> ELIGIBILITY REQUIREIVIENTS: <br /> Applicanf Eligibilify: State, tribal, or local government agencies; interstate/inter-tribal <br /> entities and associations; and not-for-profit organizations. <br /> Beneficiary Eligibilify: State, tribal agencies and local governments involved in <br /> administering wetlands protection, restoration and/or management programs or programs <br /> related to or corn{~lementary with wetlands protection programs. <br /> Credenfials/Documenfafion: Costs will be determined in accordance with OMB Circular <br /> No. A-87 for State and local governments. <br /> APPLICATION AND AWARD PROCESS: <br /> Preapplicafion Coordinafion: Preapplication coordination with appropriate regional <br /> office is encouraged. The standard application forms as furnished by the Federal agency <br /> and required by OMB Circular No. A-102 must be used for this program. This program is <br /> eligible for coverage under E.O. 12372, "Intergovernmental Review of Federal Programs." <br /> An applicant should consult the office or official designated as the single point of contact in <br /> his or her State for more information on the process the State requires to be followed in <br /> applying for assistance, if the State has selected the program for review. <br /> <br />
