Monday - October 15th at 10:00 am (7unction City Offices - 680 Greenwood)
While we are all waiting anxiously for this date to come, I would like to throw out a very
''tentative proposal for folks to chew on based on my read of the last meeting:
1) a County-wide fuel tax set at $.07 or $.08; collected and distributed by the
State.
2) the first $.05 of the fuel tax goes to each jurisdiction (i.e. County gets
`° unincor orated collections, Cities
p , get ihcorporated).
- 3) the "remaining $.02 or $.03 in both~t{ie incorporated and unincorporated areas-goes
to the County;(i.e. only County collects):
4) Each entity reserves the right`~to independently levy any additional tax as they
choose.
5) The Oregon Petroleum Association i.s engaged in the discussion with an ultimafe
goal of either obtaining their``support or neutrality.
6) Current collections based upon an existing 2005 LCOG survey are approximately
$1.2 million per penny.for the combined totals of Eugene, Springfield, Veneta;
Oakridge and Cottage Grove. Estimates for 7unction City are approximately $50,000
per penny. I have no information for estimated collections in Florence, Creswell,
Lowell, Dunes City and the unincorporated areas. I suspect we are talking
,. conseryatively about $1.5 - 2,0 million per penny with all jurisdictions
~ included. ;
There you have it.
Regards, ,
David Clyne, City Administrator ~
RO Box 250
- Junction City, OR 97448
(541) 998-4761
Ps - Sorry Paul. I could not find a single•d'ate that everyone could make and since you
indicated that you need not be there, I:picked this one as the only other one available.
1.
