-.~. ~ ~
. ''~
.
Element 5: Facility Requirements
Description: The facility requirements step includes identification of Airport
facility needs in numerous areas. Needed facilities will be identified
through the invenfory of existing facilities, capacity analyses, and
forecasts of demand. `Anticipated timing of required improvements
will also .be identified.
Methodology: Utilizing current FAA ~la~nning criteria, facility needs will be
~ determined based on pro~ected future activity and Airport role. A
criticai aircraft will be identified to establish the appropriate Design
Group for. planning future facilities at the Airport. Facility
requirements will be identified based on analysis of current' Airport
capacity, including: airside and landside facilities and ground access
systems.
Faciliry recommendations from current studies wi11 be reviewed as
appiopriate. Information obtained from the inventory will be used
to identify a~rcraft storage needs and deveTopment potential.
. Facilities to tie analyzed include:
. Runways (number, orientation, strength, and lengtH)
. Taxiways
. Helicopter landing pad ~
. Aircraft apron and ram~ areas
. Terminal area (including spacing for items such as gift shops
and restaurants) . ~
. Air; cargo
. Service and hangar areas ~
Auto parkin~
. Support .facilities such as mainteriarice, fuel farms, commercial
areas, and CFR stations
. Lighting and NAUAIDs
. FBO, corporate, and general aviation facilities (inctuding flight
schools). ~ ~
. Access facilities -
. . Rental car areas
Future requirements will proyide the basis for evaluating alternative
development actions that might be adopted to satisfy the need for
improved facilities.
Output: The second Master Plan working paper will include documentation of
facility- needs as identified from forecast. demand levels. While the
timing of development needs will be generally tied to the three
master planning phases; they .will more specifically be tied to
demand levels which will trigger the need to implement certain
facility-related development projects.
-12-
