2.) Good Relations <br /> Maintain existing relationships with the WET partners and BLM in particular, <br /> which provide benefits to the community through the land acquisition program. <br /> 3.) Facility and Work Space <br /> Provide a building and work location for regular and seasonal staff. <br /> 4.) Source of Volunteer Labor <br /> Provide a forum for recruiting and organizing volunteers to offset wage costs <br /> associated with the program, including volunteers who will collect seed, remove <br /> invasive species, perform trail & facility maintenance, perform stream/wetland <br /> cleanups, conduct enhancement plantings. <br /> 5.) Grants and Private Funding <br /> Provide a forum for grant funding and private donations for long term <br /> maintenance and operations of the wetlands program. <br /> 6.) At-risk Youth <br /> Provide opportunities for at-risk youth, and prevent other youth from becoming <br /> at-risk through positive skill development programs that lead to better work <br /> ethics. <br /> 7.) School District Partnerships <br /> Local schools will be offered programs and thousands of students will visit the <br /> center, leading to research opportunities and projects that benefit the wetlands <br /> program. <br /> 8.) Community Connections <br /> Outreach to the public to inform them of the opportunities associated with the <br /> wetlands program (such as recreation, open space, quality of life, healthy <br /> economy, etc.). <br /> <br /> 9.) Collaboration with new partners <br /> Through this effort new partners may present new opportunities for the <br /> Department to share in program administration and costs. Other opportunities <br /> may arise for acquisition of open space and restoration. <br /> 10.) Public improvements <br /> New trails, observation decks, interpretive areas may be built and funded <br /> through the education center to provide services for the citizens of Eugene. <br /> <br />
