There are three <br /> broad topic areas to consider: ~ _r <br /> 1.) The new non-profit„WREN, as a funding mechanism for acquisition, restoration, <br /> long term maintenance, and education /volunteers; <br /> 2.) Development of education and volunteer activities that assist in restoration and <br /> operations of the wetlands; and, <br /> 3.) An education center that includes support facilities for the wetlands program. <br /> Current efforts to create anon-prof t organization that may provide for the long term <br /> maintenance of the wetlands, as well as additional resources for restoration and acquisition. , <br /> develop curriculum materials, and build an education center are growing and the number of <br /> participating organizations and individuals is increasing rapidly. There appears to be a role for <br /> the Public Works Department through the West Eugene Wetlands Partnership and this is the <br /> focus of this position paper. <br /> <br />
