The program <br /> is f ded with revemue received through monthly wastewater user fees. Crews from the Eugene Public <br /> Wo ks Maintenance Division will begin injecting smoke and looking for tell-tale leaks and cross- <br /> co ections in the ~i4Jillakenzie area next week. The testing is expected to end in mid-August. <br /> The whites oke used to identify defects in both the public and private wastewater lines is non- <br /> tox cand does not 1 arrll people, plants, or animals. Residents are notified before testing begins in their <br /> nei hborhood. <br /> If smoke-te~ting identifies a stonnwater connection prohibited by City code, such as a roof drain <br /> co ected to thew stewater system, the property owner is notified and required to correct the problem. <br /> Pro erty owners ar also notified if cracks or other defects are found in wastewater lines on private <br /> pro erty, and repai or replacement of those lines is recommended.
