L-~~ <br /> j- <br /> Mav 15, 2 00 <br /> CONTAC :Eric Jones, Public Affairs Manager, 682-5523 <br /> i~rom Publi Information Section, 682-5523 <br /> FOR iMM I~IATE RELEASE <br /> PUBLIC WORKS HOLllS COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSE <br /> "1 he Eugene's Public Works Department invites the community to an all-day <br /> Open Hous ~n Thursday, May 18 at the Public Works maintenance yard at 1820 <br /> Roosevelt Blvd. The event, which is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., will feature <br /> dozens of d splays, activities, and demonstrations of the state-of--the-art techniques and <br /> equipment u ed to provide public works services. <br /> The heme of this year's event is "Reaching Our Community." The open house is <br /> <br /> a wonderful opportunity to show everyone from kids to community leaders what services <br /> Public Work employees provide and how they go about keeping our city safe and sound. <br /> It's truly a 1 art~ing experience, and more than 400 students have already signed up for <br /> special tours. Representatives from the Communities of Color and local high school <br /> science and Zath teachers involved in the Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering <br /> also have be n invited to tour the facility and meet with staff. <br /> Parki g is available on a limited basis and we encourage visitors to carpool or use <br /> public transp rt~tion. The LTD 40 Royal stops in front of the maintenance yard every <br /> half-hour an it',is just aten-minute ride from the downtown bus station..
