Sperry has offered to donate his time and that of two of his employees to
!conduct the days-long job, recommended by consulting arborist Bill Owen as necessary to support
the heavy limb of the tree.
The O en cherry tree, believed by some to have been planted by Eugene Skinner, was
officially dedicated last April by Mayor Jim Torrey and a statewide selection committee as an
Oregon Herita ~e Tree. It is one of only 14 designated heritage trees in the state and the only
officially desig ated heritage tree in Lane County. The joint venture work is expected to extend
the life of the 'stork tree by many years, reducing the risk of major damage from storms.
I
I

i
'Public Works • Administration • City of Eugene • 858 Pearl Street • Eugene, OR 97401
Phone: (541j 682-5262 • FAX: (541) 682-6826 • www.ci.eugene.or.us
