Sperry has offered to donate his time and that of two of his employees to <br /> !conduct the days-long job, recommended by consulting arborist Bill Owen as necessary to support <br /> the heavy limb of the tree. <br /> The O en cherry tree, believed by some to have been planted by Eugene Skinner, was <br /> officially dedicated last April by Mayor Jim Torrey and a statewide selection committee as an <br /> Oregon Herita ~e Tree. It is one of only 14 designated heritage trees in the state and the only <br /> officially desig ated heritage tree in Lane County.
