i <br /> <br /> f <br /> - ~ , ~ ~ ~ <br /> } ~ ' , ~ <br /> June 27, 2000 <br /> CONTACT: B d DeSantis, Project Manager, 682-5560 <br /> From Public InfFormation Section, 682-5523 <br /> FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> WORD BEGINS TODAY ON BICYCLE-PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS TO 15T'i AVENUE <br /> Constru Lion begins today on a $160,000 project to make further improvements to the 15`h <br /> Avenue "green reet" corridor. <br /> The pro~ect, designed and managed by Eugene Public Works, involves "bulging out" curbs and <br /> sidewalks at the .intersections of 15"' Avenue and Jefferson, Willamette, Oak, Pearl and High streets to <br /> slow traffic and Ceduce pedestrian crossing distances. <br /> The first intersection to be done will be Willamette and 15`'', where changes will be made to all <br /> four corners. Ord Jefferson, Oak, and Pearl streets, improvements will be made only on the west side of <br /> the intersections. On High Street, 15`'' Avenue will be narrowed on the west side of the intersection, and <br /> the southeast cor' er will also be modified. <br /> Motorist and bicyclists may encounter brief delays in work zones.
