a lk <br />News Release 0- <br />July 19, 2000 <br />CONTACT: Don McLane, ODOT Assistant Project Manager, 744-8080 <br />From Eugene Public Works Public Information Section, 682-27' )9 <br />FOR IMMED11ATE RELEASE <br />ROYAL AVENUE TO BE CLOSED WHILE WORK ON BELTLINE CONTINUES <br />The Oregon Department of Transportation will be closing Royal Avenue at BeItline on <br />Tuesday and Wednesday, July 25 and 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. while work continues on <br />the Beltline Highway modernization project. <br />Royal Avenue will be closed at Echo Hollow Road for westbound travelers on Royal, <br />with detours to Echo Hollow or Bertelsen roads. Eastbound motorists will find Royal Avenue <br />closed at Danebo Avenue. There will be a uniformed City of Eugene police officer at both ends <br />of the closed section of Royal Avenue to direct traffic. <br />The closure of Royal Avenue is necessary while pre-cast bridge sections are installed. <br />The new bridge will allow traffic on Beltline to travel over Royal without impediment. _The $9.2 <br />million project will widen and improve Beltline Highway from north of Royal to the railroad <br />vercrossing south of Roosevelt Boulevard. <br />For updates on area traffic projects, call the City of Eugene traffic relief hotline at 964- <br />484, or visit either www.ci.eugene.or.us/pw/traffic or ODOT's new web site, <br />tripcheck.com. <br />
