• II
(more)
News Release 2000 Leaf Collection Program
October 26, 2000
Page 3 _
West Eugene (north of 18`" Avenue and west of Garfield Street, including
Bethel/Danebo, and in the Churchill area west of Bertelsen Road) will be picked up
November 20 through November 22 and December 26 through December 29.
Willakenzie and north Eugene (including Silver Lane and Sterling Drive) is scheduled
for leaf collection November 27 through December 1 and January 2 through January 5.
Tips for Leaf Disposal
There is no longer a leaf drop-off site at Alton Baker Park. Leaf piles located at various
city parks are City composting stockpiles and are not places where leaves can be dumped.
Residents should pile leaves in the street the weekend before the scheduled pickup to
ensure that leaves are picked up during the scheduled collection times. City crews are unable to
collect scattered leaves or leaf piles that are stacked under or close to parked cars. Debris such as
branches, rocks, metal, and lawn clippings will not be collected. Leaf piles with debris will not
be picked up because the City cannot deliver them to people who want leaves for mulch. After
the last scheduled pickup in each area, property owners are responsible for removing any leaves
left in front of their homes.
Here are some additional tips for placing leaves safely in the street:
? Pile leaves on the street surface near the gutter, keeping gutters and catch basins clear.
? On streets without curb and gutters, pile leaves near the street, away from ditches.
I
