Eugene's Draft Capital Improvement Program Available for Review

~ ~ ~ December 21, 2000 CONTACT: Eric Jones, Public Affairs Manager, 682-5523 From Public Information Section, 682-5262 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE EUGENE'S DRAFT CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW Eugene's draft Capital Improvements Program (CIP) for the next six fiscal years is now available for review and comment. The CIP is updated every two years to forecast the City's capital needs over asix-year period based on various long-range plans, goals and policies. In the first two fiscal years of the draft CIP, approximately $34 million is envisioned to be spent on capital projects in five major categories: airport; building and park facilities, stormwater, transportation, and wastewater. The draft CIP document includes listings of projects, maps, project cost estimates, and information about each of the major categories. Three opportunities will be provided for public input on the draft CIP. A public open house will be held Wednesday, January 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the First Floor Conference Room of the Public Works Building, 858 Pearl Street, to provide an informal opportunity for the public to ask questions and offer comments to City staff. On Tuesday, January 16, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, 777 Pearl Street, the Eugene Planning Commission will take oral and written testimony. A City Council hearing on the draft CIP will be held Monday, February 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber, with final action to adopt the 2002-2007 CIP scheduled on February 26.
