The event is in East Alton Baker Park from noon
to 3 p.m. Park ng is available near the east end of Leo Harris Parkway in lot #9 (look for signs),
and shuttles wi I be used starting at 11:45 to bring volunteers to work sites along the river.
This is pilot project to improve habitat for spring Chinook salmon and other species
which live in a Id along the Willamette River. The vegetation planted on Saturday will provide
shade and foo for juvenile salmon in the form of leaf litter and insects. In the long term, the
native trees an shrubs will also stabilize the bank and generate large woody debris that
creates pools here migrating salmon can shelter and juvenile salmon can rear. This is an
opportunity for local residents to take part in the regional effort to save salmon in the Pacific
Northwest.
The Eu ene Stream Team invites all interested community members to participate.
Bring a shovel if you have one and dress for the weather.
