Path nstruction is scheduled to start late this summer and is expected to continue I through fall 20 2. The new path will extend from the end of the existing path at Terry Street to the intersectio of Greenhill Road and Royal Avenue. A separate spur will connect the new path to the int rsection of Terry Street and Roosevelt Boulevard, and another leg of the path will be constru ted along Greenhill Road south of Royal Avenue to connect to a new wetlands overlook and p rking area also being constructed this summer. The main path is two miles long, 12 feet w de, and includes four bridges and several pullouts. All of the paths will be ~ concrete surfs e, and the main path and the spur to Roosevelt will be lighted. The pa hs are adjacent to newly restored wetlands. The City of Eugene, in partnership with the Burea of Land Management, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE), and The Nature Conse ancy, has been working for the past two years to widen the creek, construct i new dikes, pla t native species and make other enhancements to approximately 400 acres of wetlands alon lower Amazon Creek. U.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio was instrumental in procuring federal funds f r the wetlands project. The City also is funding a portion of the project.
