Tours thr ugh the Rhododendron Garden at Hendricks Park will continue up through May <br /> 20`x. Starting ti a is 1 p.m., every Sunday, at the recently rebuilt F.M. Wilkins picnic shelter. <br /> Participants will have an opportunity to learn about the plants and history of the garden. <br /> This ye r marks the 50`'' year since the inception of the Rhododendron Garden. In 1951, <br /> the park was fo nded through a joint effort by the Eugene chapter of the American <br /> Rhododendron ociety and the Eugene Parks Department. The 15-acre garden displays more than <br /> 5,000 ornamen al plants, highlighting rhododendrons, azaleas, magnolias and viburnums. <br /> To visi Hendricks Park, follow Walnut Street to Fairmount Boulevard, then go east on <br /> Summit Avenu . Or take the #27 Fairmount bus to the Summit Avenue stop and walk up the <br /> <br /> pathway along ummit.
