This landmark legislation, signed into law in 1971 by <br /> farmer Gove nor Tom McCall, mandated the addition of bicycle accommodations and sidewalks <br /> as a normal art of roadway construction on roads funded by gas tax revenues. <br /> The eight-day relay ride is organized by the Bicycle Transportation Alliance, a statewide <br /> bicycling adv cacy organization. Bicyclists will leave Ashland on April 12 carrying a copy of the <br /> bill to the ca~}ital in Salem. A relay group of cyclists carrying the bill from Eugene will gather at <br /> the Rivers E ge Public Plaza at EWER at 10 a.m. on April 18. Representatives of the Bicycle <br /> Transportati n Alliance and the City of Eugene will be available to describe the improvements <br /> for bicyclists and pedestrians That this bill has provided.
