With the purchase, the City now has in public ownership a continuous <br /> corridor of pu ticly owned land that stretches across the south Eugene ridgeline from Dillard- <br /> Skyline Park i southeast Eugene to Blanton Ridge in southwest Eugene. <br /> The pr perty also is in the Amazon headwaters area and contains several small streams <br /> that feed Am zon Creek. <br /> The C ty purchased the property from DDA Oregonia, a partnership represented locally <br /> by retired phy ician Munir Katul, for $613,100, using approximately $523,000 in voter-approved <br /> parks and op n bond funds and about $90,000 from City stormwater funds. <br /> The ity has no immediate plans to do trail work or install parking facilities or other <br /> amenities on he newly purchased property, according to Andrea Riner, manager of the parks <br /> planning sect on of Eugene Public Works. <br /> Thep rks and open space bond measure, passed by local voters in 1998, included <br /> $3.72 million o purchase 232 acres of ridgeline property.
