Be inning June 15, the City of Eugene will take action to make sure that overgrown-grass and <br /> weeds and o her forms of obnoxious vegetation are controlled. <br /> In ad ition to the threat of fire, overgrown vegetation can also lead to traffic hazards and is a <br /> violation oft e nuisance ordinance in the City code. Property owners are responsible for keeping grass <br /> and weeds b low 10 inches in height and for removing blackberry vines or other excessive vegetation <br /> that extends nto a public way, impairs motorists' visibility, or crosses a property line. <br /> On u developed properties, the City may remove vegetation between June 15 and September <br /> 30 without fu her notice. Vegetation that blocks the visibility of motorists must be removed immediately, <br /> regardless o the season. <br /> On d veloped properties, owners must correct nuisances year round. Nuisance conditions <br /> include: tree and shrubs that obstruct streets, alleys, and sidewalks; visual obstructions at street and <br /> alley interse tions; and blackberries that encroach over property lines. If a violation is found on <br /> developed p operty, the owner is notified by letter and has 10 days to correct the problem. <br /> If a roperty owner does not correct a violation, the City will hire a contractor to mow or remove <br /> the obstructi e vegetation, and the costs will be billed to the property owner.
