The closure will allow crews to reconstruct the street now that the Belt <br /> Line overcrossing at Royal has been opened. <br /> During reconstruction, the road will be graveled and opened overnight to two lanes of <br /> traffic. AsphalMt paving is scheduled Friday, July 13, weather permitting, which will allow the <br /> street to be r~opened as a paved road by the weekend. The following week, Royal will remain <br /> open as the contractor constructs curbs. Once that work is finished, a shorter daytime closure <br /> will be required to complete the final asphalt paving. <br /> While ~toyal is closed, through traffic will be directed to use Roosevelt Boulevard or <br /> Barger Avenue as alternate routes. Message boards will be put up this week notifying local <br /> traffic of the pllanned closure. <br /> The O egon Department of Transportation began construction in January 2000 on the <br /> two-year, $9. million project to widen and improve Belt Line Highway from just north of Royal <br /> Avenue to th~ railroad overcrossing south of Roosevelt. The new overcrossing at Royal <br /> became operational in June.
