The $90,000 project, scheduled to be completed in late August, will be paid for <br /> primarily with!ifunds received from the U.S. Postal Service related to the new post office at 33`d <br /> and Willamet e. <br /> Most f the work will be done on 33`d Avenue. An average of 3,000 vehicles a day use <br /> the street, indluding emergency vehicles from the South Hills Station on 33`d between <br /> Willamette a I''d Donald. The Eugene Fire Department has reviewed the project plans, which <br /> include a con rete island at 33`d and Donald, 14 raised planters that narrow the street, and <br /> three mid-block painted islands with raised reflective buttons. Four speed humps will be <br /> installed on 31st Avenue, and three humps will be placed on 34th Avenue. <br /> Motor~sts in the area may encounter brief lane closures during construction, but no <br /> significant traffic delays are anticipated.
