The work will be done by Delta Sand & i Gravel, underlcontract to the Eugene Public Works Department. i The p oject on Gilham Road from Honeywood to Ayres Road and on Ayres Road from Gilham Street to Delta Highway includes reconstructing the roadway, adding raised bike lanes, building sidewlalks, and installing street lighting. The design also calls for curved lanes, raised colored-concrete intersections and intermittent landscaped medians to calm traffic. On N~'rth Delta Highway from Green Acres Road to Ayres Road, the project includes overlaying th existing road with new asphalt, adding bike lanes, building new curb, gutter and sidewalk on tt~e east side of the street, and installing landscaped medians and street lighting. ' Paving work on Delta Highway is scheduled to be completed by the end of September, and paving o Ayres Road should be done by the end of October. The work in the area of Gilham and oneywood is scheduled to be completed by the start of school in early September. Durin construction, portions of Gilham and Ayres roads will be closed to through traffic for extended eriods of time, and motorists should anticipate detours and delays in the construction ones.
