FRIDAY, O TOBER 12, 2001-11 AM

For Immediat Release
The Eugene irport is pleased to announce that Horizon Air will continue and upgrade its twice-
daily non-sto service from Eugene to Los Angeles.
Following a r view of its entire flight schedule in the post-September 11`" environment, Horizon
officials have informed Eugene Airport Manager Bob Noble that they will maintain the current
Eugene -Los Angeles schedule thru November 24`" while working on a new schedule for Eugene
to begin on ovember 25`". They anticipate the new schedule will provide more convenient
departures fo the business traveler and it should be reflected in the Horizon reservation system
by October 2
In addition, orizon has confirmed it will upgrade the aircraft serving Eugene from the current
Fokker-28s t the new CRJ 700s. According to Noble, "these brand new RJs are slightly larger
versions oft e planes America West Express now uses on its popular Eugene-Phoenix non-stop
flights." Ma ufactured by Bombardier of Canada, they fly quietly at well over 500 mph and
feature large ,more comfortable seats throughout the plane. The new CRJ 700s are scheduled to
begin servin Eugene on October 21S` (just in time for those traveling to the Oregon-UCLA game
on Novembe 10`")
Noble also a ounced that Horizon has cut fares on all of its flights including Eugene-LAX. The
reduced fare for round trip travel from Eugene to Los Angeles is now $178 for tickets purchased
by October 6`". Noble encouraged everyone to "take advantage of these great fares and
wonderful s rvice to get back in the air and fly Horizon to Southern California."
Civic and b sines leaders including Springfield Mayor Sid Leiken, Dave Hauser of Eugene
Chamber, T m Costabile of Sony Disc Mfg., Chris Monette of Symantec, Kari Westlund of
CVALCO, hris Otto of the Lane County Lodging Assn. and George Rogers of the Doubletree

joined Nobl in renewing their commitment to the innovative public-private partnership that
resulted in t e Phoenix and Los Angeles air service wins of the last two years. Working together
with public upport, they expressed confidence they can attract even more service options as
conditions i prove in the future.
For more in ormation, please contact the Eugene Airport at 682-5430.
I~
I
