~ ~ ~ ~ <br /> <br /> ~Y~' <br /> November 7, 001 <br /> CONTACT: ouis Kroeck, Landscape Architect, 682-2692 <br /> From Public I ormation Section, 682-5523 <br /> FOR IMME IATE RELEASE <br /> CO ENTS SOUGHT ON DELTA PONDS RESTORATION PROJECT <br /> An o n house will be held on November 15~' from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Willagillespie <br /> Elementary S hool, 3057 Willakenzie Road, to provide information and receive feedback on a <br /> planned resto ation project at Delta Ponds. The City of Eugene and the Army Corps of <br /> Engineers hav put together a draft plan to reestablish the river's flood plain in the Delta Ponds <br /> area and impr ve habitat conditions for a variety of fish and wildlife species, with emphasis on <br /> endangered s Gies such as salmon. If the plan goes forward, implementation activities are <br /> projected to gin in 2003. <br /> At the open house, City staff will be on hand with maps and other information about the <br /> restoration pr ject and will take public comment, particularly on recreational uses that could be <br /> incorporated i to the Delta Ponds azea. A final project proposal is scheduled to be submitted by <br /> January fora proval by the Corps' regional headquarters.
