"Public <br /> Works has list of priorities it is responding to, and it is my hope that the citizens of Eugene will <br /> be patient. a will eventually get debris cleaned up, but right now we need to focus on safety <br /> issues." <br /> A N tional Weather Service representative touring the area today has indicated <br /> Thursday's torm was the worst in Lane County since 1961, said City spokesman Tom <br /> i Olshanski. <br /> As f 4 p.m. Friday, the intersection of 14th Avenue and Ferry Street remained closed <br /> with down lectric lines and hanging trees still present. That location and other areas with down <br /> lines or ha rdous trees are clearly marked and should be avoided until hazards are removed. <br /> Pubic Works crews worked through the night on Thursday and will be on the job until <br /> dark tonigh to clear away the most critical hazards. Crews are scheduled to work daylight <br /> hours thro gh the weekend to continue to clear sidewalks and bike paths. Arrangements have <br /> been mad to bring in a crane if necessary to remove trees that have fallen onto several <br /> homes. <br /> Alt n Baker and Skinner Butte parks were hard hit by the windstorm, and the highest <br /> priority in t ose parks is to get the riverside bike paths open again.
