PW ADMIN X001

02/19/02 TUE 11:4 FAX 541 682 6838 EUGENE AIRPORT
PRESS RELEASE
EUGENE AIRPORT
28855 Lockheed Drive
Eugene, OR 97402
(503) 984-8351
Fax: (503) 683-6838
~ To: cal Media Date: February 19, 2002
II Fax Pages: 1, including this cover sheet.
I
From: Tana Bell
~I Subject: ederalization of Security Screening
~ ince last week, the Airport has received numerous calls from local media
equesting the latest information on the security screening program at Eugene and
ow the impact of the federalization of these employees will impact Eugene
assengers. Though this new program does not fall under the control of the
irport, as it is an extension of the FAA, Department of Transportation, and the
ransportation Security Administration (the new agency that emerged from the
viation Security Bill that is charged with the oversight of all transportation
ecurity matters), I thought it might be good to work a little proactively in trying to
silt you in your efforts to report on this change in the screening area.
t this point, the Interim Federal Security Representative is on site, and his main
esponsibility is the security screening area. He has requested that all media
contact be directed to the Federal Aviation Administration Public Affairs number at
206-227-2004. I hope you will find assistance at the FAA in developing a news
story.
1
