Wil ish Construction has been awarded a $920,000 Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) co tract to widen the viaduct just south of the Willamette River on I-105, replace asphalt i ~ surfacing w th concrete, and make other improvements necessary to create a safe merge lane between th Delta Highway onramp and the existing lane for traffic exiting I-105 onto Sixth Avenue ~ near the fo of the Washington-Jefferson Bridge. Init' lly, construction will focus on widening the viaduct to create a third lane for merging I traffic. Mu h of the work in this phase of the project will be done under the viaduct and on the asphalt sho lder along I-105. Shoulder areas will be reduced, and there will be periodic lane i closures in he work zone between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. Motorists are cautioned to observe the 45 mph speed limit n that section of I-105. Lat r in the summer or early fall, the concrete paving work will be done. This will require i closing the elta Highway onramp for several days. Work will be scheduled to minimize traffic disruptions s much as possible, and advance notice will be provided before the onramp is closed.
