From Publi Information Section, 682-5523 . <br /> FOR IMM DIATE RELEASE <br /> BICYCLE EDUCATION CLASSES TAKE TO THE STREETS <br /> Stu ents will practice newly learned bicycling skills at two area middle schools <br /> during the next two weeks. Sixth graders at Springfield Middle School and Cal Young <br /> Middle Sc ool are learning about bicycling in traffic as part of a two-week class offered <br /> by the Bic cle Transportation Alliance of Oregon. The course, conducted during the <br /> students' gularly scheduled physical education classes, teaches helmet use and <br /> fitting, sig aling, finding the safe and appropriate place to ride on the road, and making <br /> left and right turns. The students begin in the classroom, then proceed to parking lots <br /> for practic ,then to a nearby street corner, and eventually to two community rides <br /> where the apply all the lessons they have learned.
