T e company hauled the material from the mall to its yard on Delta Highway North, <br /> I where the of concrete is being made it into subsurface fill material. The fill material will be <br /> brought bac to the job and placed over the soil base of the new street to improve drainage and <br /> add strength to the new concrete surface paving. <br /> I <br /> Whil the technique of crushing old concrete to make agravel-like material has been <br /> done before the City of Eugene Public Works Department worked closely with Eugene Sand & <br /> Gravel toe ure that the material used on Broadway will meet the project's specifications. <br /> "We' a saving this material from ending up in a landfill or a quarry pit," said Bud <br /> DeSantis, B oadway construction manager with the Public Works Engineering Division.
