The backlog is <br /> <br /> i <br /> projected t grow to more than $230 million over the next 10 years unless additional funding <br /> can be fou d. <br /> <br /> i <br /> Th effort to identify locally controlled sources of revenue to repair and preserve local <br /> streets be an almost two years ago, when the citizen members of the Eugene Budget <br /> Committee began looking at the problem and potential solutions. The publication being mailed <br /> this week etails two options recommended by the budget committee: a small local gas tax and <br /> a modest onthly transportation system maintenance fee. The Eugene City Council is <br /> scheduled o consider these options at a work session on July 8. <br /> On uesday, July 9, an informational open house will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at the <br /> Eugene Pu lic Works Maintenance yard, 1820 Roosevelt Boulevard, to provide an opportunity <br /> <br /> ~ for the pub is to learn more and ask questions about street preservation and the proposed <br /> funding opt ons.
