To <br /> nsure that the Ian reflects the community's diverse needs, the City wants to hear from Eugene <br /> esidents of all gas, abilities, and interests-from bird-watchers to skateboarders, from West Eugene <br /> o South Hitls r sidents, from school children to retirees, and from fiododendron enthusiasts to <br /> ndangered sp cies advocates. <br /> "We wa t residents to play an active role in how parks and recreation services are provided in <br /> the future," say Parks and Open Space Planning Manager Andrea Riner. "We need to listen to <br /> residents to re Ily know what the community wants and needs." <br /> The cu ant plan, created in 1989, is now outdated. The new plan will build upon current <br /> planning effort , providing a vision for facilities and services, as well as practical steps for achieving <br /> that vision. <br /> ' The op n house is one of several opportunities residents will have to provide input in the next <br /> year and a half The open house will be followed by a community survey. Mayor Jim Torrey has <br /> appointed an a visory committee to work with an interdisciplinary committee of City staff to help guide <br /> ,!the process.
