The annual program, <br /> which has be n available to Eugene citizens since the late 1960s, offers residents leaf pick-up <br /> and delivery eNICeS. <br /> The ogram was originally implemented to prevent the clogging of gutters, catch <br /> basins, and torn sewer lines, and street flooding. The program now collects and recyGes <br /> leaves by de ivering them to residents, the City's community gardens, community groups such <br /> as Food for ane County, and commercial recyclers who use them as mulch or compost. Nearly <br /> 4,000 tons o (eaves are recycled every year. <br /> Resi ents are asked to pile leaves in the street away from parked cars so that pick-up <br /> vehicles can easily access the piles and at least a foot from the curb to avoid clogging storm <br /> drains. Piles eed to be free of other yard debris so that they can be delivered to people who <br /> want leaves or their gardens. Leaf piles must not block bike or traffic lanes. Leaves should be <br /> put in the str et the weekend prior to wllection. Leaves will be collected according to the <br /> followings edule: <br /> December 9-13 Central Eugene <br /> December 16-20 Southeast Eugene <br /> December 23-27 Southwest Eugene <br /> December 30-January 3 West Eugene <br /> January 6-10 North Eugene <br /> Tor quest a leaf delivery, mail, fax or deliver a request form to 9820 Roosevelt Blvd., <br /> Eugene, O 97402 or 682-4882 (fax).
