The large volume of (eaves this year slowed crews down <br /> and delayed he end of the season by a week and a half. After completing North Eugene, the <br /> last area due for collection, last week, crews continued to pick up stray leaf piles in streets and <br /> bike paths in this Week. <br /> The nua! program, which has been available to Eugene citizens since the late 1960s, <br /> offers reside is leaf piGc-up and delivery services. All of the leaves collected this year were <br /> i~ recycled. Of he 19,127 cubic yards collected, over 5,200 cubic yards were delivered to <br /> community g rdens around the city, 652 cubic yards were delivered to Food for Lane County's <br /> <br /> '~w.W I Grass Roots Garden, over 8,300 cubic yards were delivered to private residents, over 1,500 <br /> cubic yards re delivered to commeraal recyclers, and nearly 3,400 cubic yards wiU be used <br /> as mulch or post in Eugene parks. <br /> No a ditional leaf piles should be placed in the streets. Residents are now responsible <br /> for removing leaves and other debris left in the streets in front of their homes and businesses. <br /> Remaining 1 aves may be composted or hauled to local recycling facilities.
