<br /> E <br /> LANE COUNTY <br /> ;1 GOVERNMENT <br /> E <br /> For Im ediate Release 2/26/03 <br /> BOAR OF COMMISSIONERS AUTHORIZE CONTINUED FUNDING FOR <br /> COON /CITY ROAD PARTNERSHIP <br /> Contact: Ollie Snowden, Public Works director, 682.6910 <br /> Today t e Board of Commissioners approved continued authorization of $2.5 million in <br /> County/ ity Road Partnership agreements for Lane County's 12 cities to review for fiscal <br /> year 20 3-04. <br /> The per entage provided to each city is equal to a base of $35,000 plus an amount equal <br /> to a per entage of $2,080,000. This percentage is calculated by taking the number of city <br /> road mi s within a city and dividing by the total number of city road miles within the <br /> County. Payment amounts are finalized after the Oregon Mileage Report is published <br /> with c ent numbers. <br /> The Co ty/City Road Partnership funds are in addition to other significant funding <br /> given t cities for special projects. In fiscal year 2002-03, for instance the City of Eugene <br /> receive $1.2 million in County/City Road Partnership Funds and an additional $1.6 <br /> million or a Broadway reopening, $255,000 for a community development project at <br /> Royal d Blue Heron, and $225,000 for Royal Avenue improvements. For fiscal year <br /> ' 2003-0 , in addition to the estimated $1.2 million in County/City Road Partnership <br /> money, Eugene may receive another $1 million for various projects on roads within the <br /> city lim ts. <br /> Althou for fiscal year 2002-03, the City of Springfield did not receive additional funds <br /> ' beyond the $500,000 in County/City Road Partnership Funds, for fiscal year 2003-04 in <br /> additio to an estimated half million in County/City Road Partnership money, the city <br /> may re lize an extra $5.2 million to extend Pioneer Parkway and $200,000 for Laura <br /> Street r novations. Another $1.8 million could go to Jasper Road Extension Phase 1. <br /> Since a program was initiated by the County in 1987, the County/City Road Partnership <br /> has pro ided cities over $56 million in direct payments for use on city streets. In its <br /> prima year these payments amounted to $1.5 million. Today the payments to cities <br /> averag $2.5 million each year.
