Volunteers from half a dozen local busin sses <br /> active in Earth Share fundraising campaigns, including the City, EVIIEB, PSC Sca Wing, <br /> Molecular Probes, and Oregon Research Institute, are already signed up to parti pate. ~I <br /> All other interested community members should join the volunteer corps at~the F. <br /> Wilkins Shelter at 2200 Summit Avenue in the park. Salsa and bean dip, courtes of <br /> Emerald Valley Kitchen, will be served as fuel for the volunteers in their rigorous ork. <br /> °During the past two years, a concerted effort has been underway to remo e <br /> English ivy as part of a comprehensive forest restoration program in the park," ex tains i <br /> John Moriarty, Hendricks Park Forest Management Plan coordinator. "Once the i is <br /> removed, we have to protect the cleared areas from other invasive plants which ve in. <br /> These volunteers will help us stay ahead of the weeds." <br /> Earth Share of Oregon, formerly Environmental Federation of Oregon, rais s <br /> funds for 68 environmental groups and is dedicated to providing a convenient way for <br /> Oregonians to support groups working for the environment. In 2002, Earth Share <br /> campaigns s#atewide raised over $620,000, a #hree percent increase over 2001. <br /> Workers in Lane County contributed about 10 percent of that total. <br /> "We have enthusiastic and energetic fundraising campaigns in the fall," sa <br /> local Earth Share representative Lucy Vinis.
