The Lecture will be held on Monday, May 12, at 7 p.m. in the Tykeson i Room at the ugene Public Library. Schat who recently completed her master's thesis on bio-control of purple loosestrife at Oregon Stat University, will identify common invasive plants, give strategies for controlling these plants, and discuss why it is important to control invasive plants. Purple loosestrife is a classic exa ple of an aggressively invasive plant, which has escaped from gardens and j adversely a ected the natural ecosystem. i ~ Upc ming lectures in the series include Birds of Hendricks Park with Dan Gleason on I I July 14 and isorest Ecology with Alan Dickman on September 15. All events are free and open to the publi .
