Funding for the
pavement p eservation program is coming primarily from a new local gas tax and a monthly
transportati n system maintenance fee approved by the Eugene City Council last winter. The 3-
cent-per-ga Ion local gas tax is scheduled to take effect later this summer. The monthly
transportati n fee is still being developed and is anticipated to take effect this fall.
The ouncil approved the local gas tax and monthly fee in response to a $93 million

I'i, backlog of treet repair projects.
