Work will involve <br /> laying more g vel and putting finishing touches on the trail. Other work includes habitat <br /> restoration pr jects in the forest, such as removing herb Robert, English ivy and blackberry, all <br /> invasive plant .Ali volunteers are invited to meet at the F.M. Wilkins Shelter on Summit <br /> Avenue at 9: IO a.m. for pastries and coffee courtesy of Eugene Gity Bakery and the Friends of <br /> <br /> ~ Hendricks Pa before the work begins. <br /> Much of the trail was completed on May 31 during a project coordinated by REI, the <br /> Friends of H~ndricks Park and City of Eugene parks staff. The oak knoA area is a remnant of <br /> oak woodlan habitat that once encompassed much of the Willamette Valley, but is now very <br /> rare and con idered globally endangered. A wealth of native plant species live in the understory <br /> of this high) sensitive ecosystem. Every effort is being made to protect this sensitive plant <br /> community uring trail and habitat restoration work. <br /> Wear sturdy shoes and gloves, and bring plenty of water.
