~ li <br /> i <br /> <br /> - - ~ ~ ~ .7 ~ > <br /> July 18, 200 <br /> CONTACT: Teri Higgins, Project Manager, 682-8462 <br /> Diana Bell, Eugene Airport Public Relations, 682-8351 <br /> From Public Information Section, 682-5523 <br /> FOR IMME IATE RELEASE <br /> Paving Work Will Improve Traffic Access to Eugene Airport <br /> Wor' will begin Monday, July 21, on a project to improve vehicular access to the Eugene <br /> Airport. <br /> Dou las Drive, the road that provides access to parking lots, the rental car area, and the <br /> front of the erminal, is being rebuilt this year as part of the airport's pavement maintenance <br /> program. T e project includes adding alert-turn lane and new signage to help reduce <br /> congestion nd confusion at the airport entrance, and increasing the amount of curbside parking <br /> in front oft a terminal for dropping off and picking up passengers. <br /> The work is being done by Eugene Sand & Gravel, under contract to the City of Eugene. <br /> The $435, 0 project is being funded primarily by the Federal Aviation Administration. <br /> Dur ng the first two weeks of the project, taxi and shuttle services will be moved away <br /> from the fr ant of the terminal to accommodate preliminary construction activity, but no significant <br /> traffic dela s are anticipated. Paving work is scheduled to begin August 5 and continue for <br /> about two eeks, and motorists will be directed through the work zones by signs and flaggers. <br /> The work i anticipated to be substantially completed by August 15. <br /> Thy airport recommends that passengers add a half hour to their preflight time to allow <br /> for possibl ~ delays.
