07/2 /03 FRI 17:3 FAX 541 682 4882 EUGENE PW MNTNC & POS PW ADMIN f~001 <br /> I <br /> July 25, 2003 <br /> CONTACT: ~ <br /> ¦ Lorna Baldwin, Stream Team Coordinator, 682-4850, 913-1292 (cell phone on day of the <br /> event nly) <br /> FOR IMMED TE RELEASE <br /> YOUNG PEOPLE SPEND VACATION HELPING COMMUNITY <br /> Next onday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Eugene Stream Team will employ a <br /> crew of 14 y ung people from Catholic Heart Work Camp and other local Stream Team youth <br /> volunteers fo two days of intensive work, removing invasive plants and salvaging native plants <br /> from wetlands and riparian, or river ecosystem, areas around Eugene, including the Whilamut <br /> Natural Area of Alton Baker Park, West Eugene Wetlands, Alton Baker Park boat launch, <br /> Amazon Cre k at Oak Patch, and the Native Plant Nursery, near the Wastewater Treatment <br /> <br /> ~r Plant at 410 River Avenue. <br /> Ago portion of Stream Team's work force for the two days comes from a pool of <br /> several hun I red youth, who are converging on Eugene from locations across the northwest to <br /> work togeth r on community service projects. The youth participating in the Catholic program <br /> pay for the rip, in which they spend four days working on a variety of community service <br /> projects an one day sightseeing and enjoying the company of their local hosts.
