The <br /> park, focat d off of Sorrel Way, opened for play last Sunday. Over the course of the <br /> past mont and a half, parks and concrete crews excavated the playground area, <br /> removed t e old playground equipment, constructed a new pathway around the <br /> <br /> ~ ~ la round and wheelchair ram and installed new la a ui ment. Dozens of <br /> P Y9 p. P Y q ~P <br /> neighbors itched in to help pour the concrete and install the new play equipment which <br /> includes ne spring riders and a play structure, featuring a rock climbing wall, swings <br /> and hangi g rings. The spring riders were made possible by a City of Eugene <br /> Neighborho d Matching Grant and fundraising by the local community. A new bench, <br /> wheelchair- ccessible picnic table and trash receptacle, scheduled to be installed in the <br /> next couple of months, will put the finishing touches on this park's facelift. <br /> "V1/h n we applied for a neighborhood grant for new spring riders, we had no idea <br /> we would g t a total remodel," say Suzy Bock, neighborhood volunteer coordinator for <br /> the project ho worked with City parks staff on the collaborative effort.
