To ensure <br /> pedestrian afety, we are urging property owners to maintain the sidewalks adjacent to their <br /> homes ins fe condition, as required by Eugene Code. During snowstorms, shovel sidewalks <br /> as soon as possible. If a de-icer is used to remove ice from sidewalks, be sure to read the label <br /> carefully a d follow the label's instructions to avoid harming the environment. De-icing products <br /> <br /> I <br /> that contai chlorides, such as rock salt, are harmful to the environment. Sand, which is not a <br /> de-icer, ca help make ice-covered sidewalks less slippery. <br /> On the snow and icy weather conditions have ceased, property owners are asked to <br /> help clean ny sand which may have been pushed onto the sidewalk as soon as practical. <br /> Please do of sweep sidewalk debris into the street where it can cause problems for bicyclists <br /> or motor ve icles, or pollute local waterways.
