Beginning on Monday, March 15, City of Eugene, Public Works
Maintenance crews will repair concrete street sections on Polk Street, between 7"' and 8`"
avenues. Their work may continue into the following week. Facpect barricades and possible lane
reductions.
Repairs will begin on West 18"' Avenue over the week of March 22 in the eastbound
lanes between Tyler and Jefferson streets. Once eastbound repairs are complete, repairs begin
in the westbound lanes beginning at Jefferson Street through Friendly Street. Over the next
month, expect slow downs and traffic delays.
"These concrete street repairs are required due to concrete panel failures and are part of
the Public Works Maintenance Division's ongoing, annual concrete street and alley
maintenance program,° says Tony Jobanek, Street and Surface Maintenance Supervisor. The
program, which is funded through the road fund operating budget, uses a combination of site
inspections and data from the Pavement Management System (PMS) to prioritize needed repair
work. During this spring, concrete repairs will occur at locations including: Kincaid from 11"' to
14"' avenues; 19'" Avenue at Villard Street and Orchard Street; and Agate Street from 22"~ to
24"' avenues. Maintenance crews will work with property and business owners in these areas to
minimize any impact the repair work may create.
