Rain or shine, <br /> volunteers will continue to alp control the spread of He Robert and nipplewort, two invasive, <br /> non-native weeds, from pa roadsides and trails. In rested volunteers are asked to meet at the <br /> F.M. Wilkins Shelter at 2200 summit Avenue at . 0 a.m. to enjoy pastries, coffee and juice <br /> courtesy of the Eugene City B~kery and the F ends of Hendricks Park before heading to the <br /> forest and trails. ' <br /> Volunteers will be instruct in techniques for removing non-native, invasive plants while <br /> l <br /> protecting the native plants of the est. Ridding the forest of invasive weeds is one of the main <br /> objectives of the Hendricks P Fore Management Plan. By removing the ivy and other <br /> invasive plants, the native peces have better opportunity to reproduce and flourish in the <br /> forest. Over the past t ee years, voluntee contractors and park staff have cleared ivy from <br /> about 16 acres of the park's forest. Following with removal of secondary invasive plants, <br /> such as Herb Robert and nipplewort, is essential f maintaining the work that has been <br /> accomplished. <br /> i <br /> Tools and equipment will be provided, and long leaved shirt ,long pants and sturdy <br /> t <br /> shoes or boots are recommended.
