The community <br /> forum is part of the Eugene Parks, Recreation and Open Space Comprehensive Plan, a process <br /> that has already involved nearly 3,000 Eugene residents in envisioning our community's parks, <br /> recreation and open space services for the next 20 years. Based on the input from the first <br /> phase of public involvement, action priorities were identified last fall, and, now, City parks and <br /> recreation staff and the 13-member mayor's committee need more feedback from the <br /> community about how to implement these priorities. <br /> The forum will provide participants with an overview of the comprehensive planning <br /> process and a facilitated process designed at eliciting neighborhood-specific input about <br /> planning, acquiring and/or developing new parks, trails, recreational facilities and programming, <br /> and open space areas. Some of the specific questions that will be addressed include: <br /> ¦ What natural areas need to be protected or enhanced? <br /> ¦ Are you within walking distance of parks and open space? <br /> ¦ What kinds of recreational opportunities do you think your neighborhood needs? <br /> ¦ Which parks in your area are most in need of improvement? <br /> Recreational programming will be available for children in the school cafeteria and light <br /> breakfast and lunch will be provided for all.
