Meetings also have been scheduled from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on May 12
at Madiso Middle School and on May 20 at Cal Young Middle School. The agenda for
ail three m etings is the same. Brief presentations will be made at 5 and 6 p.m., and
staff will b available to receive comments and answer questions.
The meetings are an outcome of the Eugene City Council's 2000 direction to staff
to "work p actively to support the recovery of spring Chinook salmon populations."
Since then the City has evaluated its own programs and practices and has
implement d a number of strategies to support recovery of wild salmon. In addition, the
City is con idering a land-use regulatory strategy, which could affect property next to
salmon-be ring streams and rivers. A key question for the public to consider, and
~ ultimately or the Council to decide, is whether the City should apply the same general
Goal 5 nat ral resource protections to salmon habitat areas or should there be

j additional rotection measures for salmon habitat?
Info ation about salmon habitat conservation strategies and an online comment
form area ailable on the Internet at www.ci.eugene.or.us/salmon.
Pubti Works • Administration • City of Eugene • 858 Pearl Street • Eugene, OR 97401
Phone: (541) 682-5262 • FAX: (541 } 682-6826 • www.ci.eugene.or.us
